It's
summertime again and everyone will be taking advantage of
the sun and fun while they can. That means we will be
outside washing and waxing our cars. Here are a few
pointers on the correct way to care for your car.
First of all, let's talk about washing.
Use a car wash made by a
reputable company.
A. Turtlewax and Armor All make both "car
washes" and "wash and waxes".
B. Never use dishwashing detergent or laundry
detergents. They contain chemicals that may
damage paint.
Always wash your car from the top
to the bottom.
There are a lot of products on
the market to clean rims and tires.
Choose one that best suits your needs.
There are a number, of bug and
tar cleaners on the market for cleaning plastic
bumper covers.
Use one of these products before washing the car.
Second, let's talk about waxing.
If everything is fine with your
paint job, a simple waxing every month or so
should protect your car's finish forever.
Use only waxes that read safe for
clear coats.
If your paint job is oxidizing
(hazy or white-looking), check with your local
body shop; they have products available that can
clean and rejuvenate a paint job.
If there is severe paint
deterioration, a paint job may be needed in the
near future.
Now, final detailing.
Always use a product that is safe
for plastic and leather interiors. Again, Armor
All makes a great product. There are also many
other products on the market that may better suit
your needs.
The same products used on the
interior of your car can also be used on the
exterior. Use the products to protect tires and
any trim accessories that need protection.

Good Luck this summer on
maintaining your vehicle.
By following these simple guidelines, you should
get many years of service out of the interior and
exterior of your car. If you have any questions
about the procedures mentioned, contact your
local body shop. I'm sure they can help you. |
